Appointment of Clerk/Responsible Finance Officer

A vacancy has occurred for a Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer to Coreley Parish Council to commence around 1st November 2023.

The current salary is based on 4 hours per week, but this is being reviewed with the intention to increase the hours. The Salary will be calculated according to NALC’s recommendations depending upon qualifications and/or experience but will be within the SCP 7 - 12 (£11.63 - £12.73) range, with mileage reclaimable at 0.45ppm.

Attendance is required at the Parish Council Meetings held in Coreley village hall on Wedneday’s at 7.00 pm every month, except August and December. Other extraordinary meetings may be arranged as necessary throughout the year.

For this varied position candidates must be computer literate, have internet access, and ideally should be CILCA qualified. Previous experience working as a Parish Clerk and/or knowledge of Local Government would be desirable, although training can be provided. Candidates should be prepared to undertake continued development training throughout their period of employment.

The Clerk is responsible for preparing agendas, taking minutes, dealing with correspondence, liaising with contractors and local government officials, managing accounts and the financial obligations of the Council, organising audits, preparation of budgets, VAT returns, PAYE and the administration of the Parish Council website and publicity. The Clerk ensures correct procedures are followed and advises the Parish Council to ensure that it acts within its powers. The ability to communicate well at all levels is essential.
